Mustang Munchies: Week 28

Every Tuesday, the Mustang staff eats lunch together at a local restaurant that falls in the price range of about $10 per person. For 2012, we’ve decided to try a new restaurant every Tuesday. Yep, that’s 52 different restaurants to try this year!

With only three weeks of Mustang Munchies left, we wanted to make sure we hit at least one more burger place before the end of 2012. Chris recommended P & L Burger, a joint halfway between our Thousand Oaks office and Simi Valley. Brett, a Simi resident, had eaten there before, and his enthusiasm to revisit the restaurant led to a unanimous decision.

The only dish that rivals the burger as a team favorite is the burrito, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that P & L served a variety of both. They also make their own different kinds of salsa to add to your main dish.

Chris’s favorite part of the meal was the fried zucchini, and Michael’s was the habanero pepper salsa.

Ginny, a big fan of the breakfast burrito, ordered a bacon-stuffed confection. “It’s so rare to find places that serve good breakfast burritos after noon,” she said. “I didn’t mean to eat the whole thing!”

Brett usually ordered a breakfast burrito in his previous visits, but this time he tried a burger. “The burger was scrumptious, it stacked up well against the burrito.”

“My burrito tasted like I could have gotten all the ingredients from the frozen food section at Ralph’s,” Randall said. “It was just alright.”

After visiting the neighboring Golden Spoon for dessert, the team decided P & L Burger deserved 4m rating.
