SAFER Systems’ CAM Product Featured in Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment Magazine

SAFER Systems Develops Combustion Analysis Model

SAFER Systems, a leader in chemical emergency management solutions, has developed what is described as an industry first – the Combustion Analysis Model (CAM).

The company said CAM is designed to:

* Effectively analyze and help manage industrial or transportation-related fire events.
* Analyze any chemical fire and post-dispersion fires.
* Provide crucial information regarding the products of combustion – the soot and gases that a fire generates.
* Determine the downwind dispersion of combustion products.

CAM works in conjunction with any of SAFER Systems’ chemical emergency management solutions – Real-Time, Homeland Responder or Hazmat Responder – to provide comprehensive event analysis, critical response and post-event decision-making information, whether the event is a chemical release or a release with fire.

Providing a complete picture of the impact of the hazards associated with fires, toxic smoke and particulates allows first responders, companies and government agencies to make more informed decisions regarding a fire event and its consequences. Those decisions can include evacuation and shelter in-place actions, evaluating possible health impacts and environmental consequences, and determining how to address possible damage claims and litigation.

“CAM is particularly relevant and useful in petrochemical and refining environments, including but not limited to refineries, sour gas and storage terminals/tank farms,” said SAFER Systems Global Marketing Manager Chris Cowles.

SAFER Systems President Ernie Gilbert said, “CAM is a crucial new analysis and decision-making technology for addressing an assortment of dangerous situations that occur during a fire event, as well as significant post-event consequences.”
